POP

so the long awaited passing out ceremony is here! it fell on a thurs, 17th august 2006-- marks the day when engineer corporals turn into 3rd sergeants. so i'll be getting my sergeant pay in future~ yeah! but the sadly we still have to put on our corporal rank until my course ends which is this coming wednesday~

the ceremony was quite a simple one and we were all afraid that we will screw up the drills while on stage. luckily, everything went smoothly. the most exciting part was the time when we started snapping shots! but i didn't take much cos bridging engineers need to return to camp at 10pm! wat a waste! argh! actually, i dun really feel much being a sgt. everything will still be about the same except for more responsibility. haha~

anyway, yesterday i had a fever of 40 degree celsius! my highest record! haha!

Yesterday was quite an eventful day. met up at ryu, then my bmt mates and finally evelyn to catch the fireworks show.

yeah finally i get to meet ryu! it's our first time meeting this year. can u imagine?! oh my... so we had a satisfying lunch at ichiban boshi at wisma and i especially love the bacon crepe. it's a must try! and we talked so much about wat we're gonna do next and about her uni and orientation stuff. also mentioned about samuel ong who's gonna turn into a 3rd sgt this coming thurs with me. haha! he's quite a comedian to us i guess. well, she'll be leaving for michigan uni next thurs. eh! remember to come back on ur second year hor! still remember the occasions when i keep complaining to her about our co and the gruelling meetings that we had. a good confidante indeed! then we went to take a neoprint!

nice neoprint huh! i especially like the one showing our cool faces. we're like modelling for some company! haha bhb! thanks so much ar ryu for helping me out these years when i have problems! ahha like the personal statement that u help me edit!

after which, i met up with my bmt mates for a simple dinner at cafe cartel. a pity kiwi was activated for guard duty if not it would have been more fun! oh and finally the emancipation-- the fireworks! it was splendidly furnished with creativity. sporadic huge fireballs complemented the scenic horizon, and the show was rounded up with a thunderous slew of fireballs. a pity we couldn't see some as we were standing at rafflescity gazing at the fireworks so that we will be able to rush into the train once the show ended. kiasu singaporeans huh~ haha!

oh and now i'm just looking forward to this coming thurs graduation ceremony. evelyn and milly will be attending it and yeah hope that fri will be an off for all of us so that i can celebrate on thurs!

NDP

Happy birthday to singapore!!! wee~ so today's the long awaited national day holiday~ I managed to catch the ndp live on tv and it was quite good i think. the singapore song was belted with gusto by our homegrown singapore singer. err... forgot her name.. oopz but it was really a good rendition! and when flashes of singapore history were shown, it added a little sentimental value to the whole parade as this is also the last year ndp will be held in the kallang stadium.

actually, think i would like to get ndp tickets in future to immerse in the bustling atmosphere and getting a feel of wat is it like to watch those fireworks. the whole parade made me feel how lucky i am to be in s'pore. the diverse ethnicity, the peace that we share, the many lingo that we have and the strong foothold our economy has have weaved into a unique nation fabric that represents a typical singaporean. I am by no means happy for the nation and also proud to be a singaporean. hope that singapore will continue to prosper to create a brighter future for the next generation~

anyway, think i wanna get that brown sweater from topman! it's quite nice! wanna collect the diff seasons of winter wear that topman produces so that i can bring to london to wear. hahah wait till i get the discount voucher from evelYN! haha..

yeah... these 2 weeks will definitely pass fast and meaningfully. 2 days to ndp = break from camp. and galdly, it falls on a wednesday which is the middle of the week. so ostensibly making this week shorter. yeah!

and next week, i'll have my graduation parade on the 17th! oh my, promotion to sergeant! so i have these 2 days to look forward to to make this week less monotonous. great~! and oh ya, this sat will be my bmt section gathering again! yeaH! so 3 days to look forward to!

This week was totally a busy week. don't wanna blog those unhappy moments in camp. yuPz, so yesterday i booked out early to attend the dsta scholars nite togetehr with lee kai; at least i got a break from the revolting army life. and yupz it was juz an ok session cos my other close frens didn't come! ppl like hui han and weiliang. hai~

and today i watched click with cf. it was really a rewarding movie. made me think a lot and i realised some parts really reflect about me. it started off with a light note, and is quite hilarious. and this guy has gotten a remote control which he can use to fast all unhappy or undesirable moments. however, the catch is that these moments will be recorded in the remote control and subsequently, it will automatic skip those chapters for him. and that made him regret totally when he keep skipping momentous moments of his life. so one day he woke up after being coma for 6 years and when he suddenly realised that his dad had passed away, he became devastated. he then returned back to the last time he met his father with the help of his remote control. and it showed him being the CEO of this architecture company and his dad went in to ask him for a simple dinner with him together with his mum. but he did not have time for him and his impudence towards his dad reminded me of the frustrations i showed my mum at times.

and there was this part when he died and managed to tell his kids that family comes first. a pity it took so long for him to realise but luckily, the movie still ended as expected-- the death angel gave him another chance to repent and he really treasured them more than ever. cf and I were saying that this movie really applies to us and we will be left in limbo when one day, our loved ones have to leave us. well, i guess we have to take 1 step at a time and most importantly, we only have 1 Chance to treasure our loved ones; unlike that in the movie...
