Reminiscence

This week is totally xiong! and it hasn't ended yet! 2 more days to go only but my bones are already shattering. i have this feeling that my shoulder joints are swollen too~ cos of a good ICCT crash course. hope this wun be the case for acct! jiayou eric! haha...

and today, while i was at the company office, i saw many of my platoon ppl having their clearance form signed and preparing to ORD. everybody seems to be in good spirits. and i do feel happy for them. cos they're able to leave this organisation and lead a much better life out there. it's always betta to be a civilian, that's how i felt. cos you need not worry about the bountiful extras and confinements that unreasonable superiors may threaten you with. But at the same time, i will definitely miss some of them. ppl like weng hong, my da jie and perhaps some others. nevermind! we'll still meet up i'm sure~ walked into camp with weng hong yesterday and i felt nice toking to him la! haha u must feel honoured hor.

anyway, our PC is becoming a 2IC and i was quite glad that we're picking up the frenetic pace of life again, cos schedule will be hectic next week again and things will start to get more interesting. we'll lead a more eventful life unlike the past when everybody just stays in bunk and rots. haha! but i had my fair share of tiredness this week, and i just need to rest! argH!

Letters from Iwo Jima

Iwo Jima no tegami wa kanashii eiga da; totemo suki desu. well, letters from iwo jima appeared to be a nice movie to me. it's very subjective i guess cos cheng hyork actually slept during the movie. Both this and flag of our fathers share the same director; but both portray the japanese and american perspective respectively.

well, i did not watch flag of our fathers but i thot letters from iwo jima was a fine piece. They showed how the Japanese lost as they fought against the overpowering americans; be it in numbers or weapons. How the clever general made use of tunnels to battle against the americans. it also showed the japanese tenacity to fight and never be subversive towards any foreigners. what made me like this movie was the humane part when it showed how one of the soldiers who was originally a baker, was drafted to fight the war; having to leave his wife and unborn baby was really heart wrenching.

but i think this movie mainly portrays how the japanese military works. in comparison, i think the army here is much more compassionate. but maybe there's no basis of comparison, cos that was the past japanese military.

Then, i also caught pearl harbour 2 on ch 5 just now. I felt so sad throughout the movie. soundtrack was used aptly to express their emotions. Well, i think i have a fetish for war movies. cos it really stirs my emotions while watching~ and they actually cause me to become a more reflective person... ...

Mahjong~

Today was a totally awesome day with jiayin, yuexin and ks! met ks early in the morning at 11am at tm! then we went to shop around and got a dancing chicken as jy's present from toy 'R' us haha! funny sia~ but it was quite a novel idea! yeapZ, then we met up xin mei first at cartel for a cheap set lunch!

wanted to 'treat' ks, cos he can have free flow bread~ haha! then when jy came along, we gave her that big surprise! literally and figuratively~ aha! she was kinda amused la! so we chatted really a lot in cafe cartel and made a din over there! oh mY! and i got to know more about KS dark secrets~ ooPz, i shan't say here cos he'll kill me if he sees this!

Then, they came to my house for mahjong and bridge! haah i was the ultimate winner; won the most CHIPS. alright, we dun gamble~ anyway, it was exciting to play with chips for bridge. the higher you bid, the higher the stake. and jiayin lost lots! together with yuexin~ hahaa only ks and i made profit, with me the most. and it came to a point when we were both so afraid to partner yuexin and jiayin cos the partner needs to pay for them if they lose anymore! haha~ but well, it's totally fun la! and we had steamboat for dinner together with roasted duck~ my nice daddy prepared for us! hehe! i find it really family like to eat with each other... kinda wen xin...

Dreamgirls

yeah i watched dreamgirls today with the specs! oh my~ it's really a good one for those who appreciate musical~ Plot was great too, kinda touching la towards the end. It's happy kinda touching; not the sad kind.

jennifer hudson acted well and really cracked her vocals! she's a powerhouse sia! I love beyonce Listen best! oH my! you should just catch this movie. Her song really fits the context of that part of the movie; cos it caused the movie to be very emotional! argH~ i can't stop myself from looping that song! haha... listen frenzy!

so here's the video.. enjOY!

My nephew!

So I had quite a fun Chu er! went to tm to watch just follow law with sir seng. It's quite a satirical movie that mirrors the way singaporeans work; which is black and white. I really find what they show so true, esp when they keep harping on black and white. everything needs a proposal, then an approval and if we were to neglect such 'rules', then one will be in deep trouble. That's really so applicable to today's society and even in the army~ well well, it's a good show la overall those they kept incessantly harp on the black and white issue in the middle.

alright, then i went to my san gu house to visit my nephew! He's just 5 months old, weigh a good 9kg and is soooo cute. his name is zhan hui~ Kept playing with him for the whole day. He's sooo fat and so adorable. really makes me feel like pinching him. It was a little difficult when i started to carry him cos he fidgets a lot but i got use to it after a while. and it feels nice to hug him! haha so pui! and yeah, i fed him 1 bottle of milk~ felt so accomplished haha! cos of his tantalising bouncy baby fats, i kissed his cheeks! haha! sound like some paedophile~ but yeah, love this nephew of mine! i wanna bring him out in future~

Hwa Chong

I just saw this video on zhiyong's blog and i thought it is super nice! Though my CCA isn't Huang Cheng, it's still symbolic of hwa chong. that's y i still feel nostalgic when i viewed this video. thus, i got it from zhiyong to embed in my blog. hee!

that's right, sharon ou was from huang cheng and that's her alright! she rox man! well, i know 3 artistes from HC actually. The part of the video showing HC ppl hugging is really tear-inducing; I was quite touched. =)

Here are the following captions showed in this video which aptly describes us Hwa Chongnians:

Another quality of the Hwa Chong spirit is the ability to allow any ordinary individual to realise his or her own worth.

A student of Hwa Chong need not be from a renowned school or rich family;
he might be from any faculty, but ultimately many of us... ...

The captions are not completed cos it was extracted from somewhere i guess. anyway! HC rox~ and i do miss the good old days and i feel proud to be clad in the brown uniform!

yixin~

yeap! today was a really loooong outing! first, i met up with my beloved bmt mates for kster at chinatown! there were cheng hyork, kiwi, hq, bing fu, yuan shao and I. well, really sang a lot and it was cheap! only $10 for 5h! haven seen some of them for quite some time; esp yuan shao! ahha~ and seeing them reminds me of the japan trip we agreed on end of this year. hope it will materialize!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
me and kiwi! nv fail to bore me when meeting up with him~

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
me and hq! yeah~ hope we get to go japan dec this year!

alright, then off i went to meet yixin, simin and ks at makansutra which is next to the esplanade! it's a good place for local food~ and things are not overpriced! haha, but it was a tad oily. so i was quite full after sharing 4 dishes with them!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
yeah, the food we ordered! there're hao jian, cha guo tiao, roti john and satay!

after which, we took a cab down to clarke quay to have some drinks. and it was a really really beautiful place! I love the lightings and it feels extremely great to sit by the singapore river while catching up with your old frens. Feels very relaxing... we should have had dinner at that place instead! yuPz...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
me and yixin... we were at riverside le! the lightings are beautiful right?!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
That's me! ahha and it's a male toilet~

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

me and simiN~

yuPz, the four of us~ we're turning 20 this year~ how we have aged...

and yixin hasn't changed much or rather hasn't changed at all. she's still the same old yixin that i've known. innocent and has a likeable character; think of others before herself. haah! i'm like writing a testimonial. anyway, nice meeting her and she'll be flying back to australia next sat~ yuPz, i may go and send U!

Bazaar night

YuPz! Yesterday was our bazaar night organised by 35 SCE. There were like so many people. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for thevarious charitable organisations. Well well, honestly speaking, we had a hasty preparation as Samuel and I were appointed as ICs just few days before this event. Nevertheless, it was still a success ultimately.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
me and marvin! he's really a nice fren! nv feel bored with him cos his contagious laughter will always cheer me up! dun u think he looks like winnie the pooh!

We met with various hiccups like technical glitches and shortage of food initially. The powerpoint was overloaded as there were many other branches tapping on the same powerpoint. In the end, The parallel circuit drew lots of Current! haha, science here. And cos of I2R=power loss in wire, together with an increase in current, a large amount of heat is dissipated too! and guess wat?! The insulated wire melted! So, initially i was really disheartened to see this, cos without electricity means no fried food! haha~ but luckily, we were fast enough to change the powerpoint and just for our sole use; no others could tap on our powerpoint! haha!

And we started frying frying; the cheese fish fingers were really good! delicious! totally unbeatable! haha~ and yeah! our burger sold like hotdogs. and we almost sold everything out by 6.45pm! luckily, me, ps1 and lip yong rushed down to compass point to sweep more food with his car. And when we reached there, we kept cooking and selling, cooking and selling.

Well, the most creative product was the mystery pack that we came up with. We mixed many different kind of finger food in it; each with different kinds and pack them into colourful packets enclosed by a cute sticker. haha! I came up of this idea cos i remembered the news reporting how successful a creative Japanese company was at packing different things in plastic bags and selling them at a ultra low price during their sale season. Not plagiarism, just simply appication here. hee =P and yeah, the idea really worked out!

This was my first time doing such a bazaar night and it was a really fun one! It's definitely fun when everyone was busy helping each other. The specs, were really cooperative and helpful. we showed our teamwork and everyone was happy helping each other. Samuel, ben, justin, wei keong and my hai er stood for the whole night cooking and packing, while the rest helped with the backstage work like preparing the bags and stickers and going around publicising our food. and not to forget our sales manager, marvin who stood at the stall collecting the tickets and taking orders! He was really funny at 1 instance when he mistook jiasheng's order as a $3 mystery pack when it was $2. So, he told me he needed to downgrade it after knowing his mistake, and guess wat he did in front of jiasheng?! He blatantly took the fish finger and ate it! haha! we were all laughing like mad~ totally hilarious!

Alright, but the happiest moment was when our 2 PCs came to help us sell our food, be it publicizing or packing! They've really done a great job! kudos to them! Togther with their help, alpha stall really seemed like a family-runned stall yesterday~ with the 2 lao ban doing the marketing and the rest of us doing the backstage work. Though we were really shag, it was really really a joyous day! 3 cheers to our PCs and the specs.~ heee I love them all!

Today was a totally happening and exciting saturday. I met up Swee keat to shop at vivocity first! haha~ fat brother aka dajie happened to be there too but he went home when i reached!

yeah, and vivo isn't really crowded today, thus it's quite enjoyable to shop there today. And we saw so many UOB CNY mascots giving out phamplets and small lucky draw from a large ingot. it's damn cute la; wanna take pic with them but was quite paiseh. so in the end i got a handbag and sk got a dui lian! haha~ but i gave the handbag away to simin later. and yeah! i spent $140 there! bought 2 shirts and a pair of jeans, 1 of the shirts was for my dad! yeah and i like the long sleeve shirt i bought! it has maroon stripes~

ok, then i went to meet kee sheng and simin at wheelock for dinner! we had a sumptuous fish and co meal! somehow i just love the seafood platter there~ at least the different dishes were cooked using diff culinery methods; unlike manhatten which only fry everything! haha~ and chatted alot there and we laughed like crazy people. it's really fun la! I sorta had an advantage eating with ks, cos he has a smaller appetite! so yeaP! the meal was filling and good!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
This was taken outside a shop! so interesting rite~ I was laughing away when i saw this picture! so creative yet a little offensive~

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
me and simin~ so long din see her le! good to know she's doing good!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
simin and ks! hahah she was imitating how KS pose! haha!

then, we went to starbucks to chill out! bought drinks and continued chatting about the past and also shared our army experience with simin which din bore her at all cos we didn't tok about technical stuff like weapons haha! and ks really amused us with his army antics! Well well, really had a lot of fun there today! and yuPz, hopefully ks can make it for next fri dinner with simin and yixin since yixin's leaving s'pore for australia to continue her studies again!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
The 3 of us at starbucks!!! we rox!!!

Today's outing was totally filled with fun and laughter! sometimes, i do wish to relive those school times again... but we have to move on. and the past will serve as a sweet memory to all of us.

so i just came back from the airport after sending dearest evelyn off. It was.... sad. We started off joking and joking. then met many other frens and yeah took photos here and there. it's really a small world to bump into so many common frens.

And when it was time for her to bid us farewell, she broke down. I also felt sad for her; i guess crying is really contagious. then peilin and some of them started to tear and i kept fighting back my tears cos i know i'll miss this close fren of mine. At the very last moment, I still tried to crack jokes to liven the atmosphere. Make her smile and leave for australia with a lighter heart.

I see frens hugging their loved ones for the 'last' time. I see parents crying profusely; missing their children greatly. and i realise love actually... is everywhere. it's really like the re enactment of the last scene of love actually. and in this short span of 10 min of so, it makes me feel that the world is full of love; really.

on my way back, i was thinking who i want to be there when i leave for london next year september. well well, guess they'll be people from dunman and hc classmates, cca as well as army bmt and some of my bridging ppl. hope i won't cry then; but i guess i will.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
me and evelyn. hey dear, i'll miss you! must keep in touch through msn k...

voyager

Tired, unkempt, burnt and hungry were the few words that can aptly describe me after this major exercise, voyager. it is a 10 days exercise and i was pulled out after finishing my role as a lifeguard. stayed there for 4 days, from sunday to wednesday afternooN!

It was a total torture to sleep in a boat in the open reservoir besieged by thick jungles at night! cos it's freaking cold! it feels like i've gotten frost bites; esp my exposed toes and fingers. the first night was really like hell for me as i felt nausea and cold while on the boat. the huge waves generated by others caused mine to wobble so much that i felt like puking.

after surmounting that ordeal, came the interesting rafting! my 35 SCE proudly rafted 300+ vehicles across the water body. it was really a magnificent sight; engineers just look so sud when ther're pilots. such a grandiosity was really a rare sight. haha! after which i covered water safety for infantry! and that really sucks as they seem to have an endless number of troops crossing the river. I couldn't keep myself awake most of the time. ooPZ...

ok, nevertheless, this exercise is still an eye opener to me. allowed me to see how the various units gel together to ensure the success of the various missions. it's akin to our daily life, that teamwork always serves to help us reach our ultimate goal and it's an imperative in today's working environment cos we're interdependent with each other. no1 can survive alone! hahah~ ok, blabbering away again.

and now! i'm so black! with a singlet tan line that looks so much like a bra strap. oOpz, haha! hope i'll not attend such exercise again! 3 cheers to me!

happy birthday~

First, wanna say a big happy birthday to ps and eve who are both born on this date. actually, they do not know each other but they have the same bday la~ haha!

This week was definitely a laborious one. moved cupboards and bedframes from the 1st level to the 5th level and i even accompanied one of my guys to the hospital due to severe diarrhoea. Was quite shocked and caught unprepared cos it was my 1st time accompanying my man to hospital, but luckily, everything went well and fine with my composure. Helped him to do the administration work and yuPz, gave him encouragement along the way when his stomach was in terrible pain. really learnt quite a lot from this trip; the responsibility that a spec has to have besides those hands on skills. fortunately, sir joined me after getting my phone call and at least i have a company while waiting for jun chuan's diagnosis. chatted many things under the sun during that time and finally, reached back coy line at 2am! with just a short 5h sleep, i continued my COS duty the next day.

oh well, so today i booked out really early and went to meet evelyn in the afternoon to catch happy birthday~ a sad and touching movie indeed. no, it's not like those cliche fairytale movie which ended with a happy ending. but a really sad one which brought many in the cinema to tears. (i almost cried.)

then, we went to take a neoprint with us doing dumb actions! anyway, i also bought a nike sneakers for $80 after a whopping 40% discount! yeah! haha~

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
so let me give a short account for each decoration.
1st pic: it was taken on the 2nd feb.
2nd pic: our initials are both ET; eric tan and evelyn tay.
3rd pic: it's her birthday. but ironically, we weren't smiling in this piC! we were acting dao!!! hahaha~
4th pic: we were from 04S72!

yuPZ, and evelyn is leaving on wednesday 11pm and i'll be going for exercise on sunday till hopefully tues. but i was stated wed and if that's so i hope to be able to rush to the airport!
