Alpha~

yeah! So today was the long awaited kbox outing with singen, rayan, sam, ben, weng hong and fulong! we went to paradise centre which was located at the suburb of dhoby ghaut~ quite an ulu place and i actually met zhicong( bravo lifeguard). well, that's beside the point!

so, we sang for a good 5 hours! and singen was the most pro! and he's very engross in all the songs. it was amazing that he almost knew everything! and he can hit the high keys without any forsetto. zan! and yuPZ, it was a really funny kbox outing! cos fulong and rayan kept doing stupid actionS!

then, jielong joint us and we went to taka fei cui for a dinner which kinda sucks! COS i ordered the wrong mee! i thot i ordered the beef tendon mee; and this is my 2nd time ordering the wrong 1! argH! so i din eat much but gave the rest to fulong cos i was quite fuLL! The table was also a little big for us to communicate much. so dinner was a little boring actuallY~ worse still, the long bao wasn't well done due to the never ending queue.

but we became more talkative when we reached swensen for our dessert! felt more cosy over there cos of the smaller tables we were confined to! i had my cookies summit which i was hooked onto since i had it the first time! well, chatted quite a number of stuff over there! and it was quite fun! cos that very fat bro of mine keep irritating me! hahaha.. shall break his arms in future! so we stayed there till 10.30pm cos of the long queue again, we decided to be considerate singaporeans! haha~ and the bill was exactly $50.00 which was a little shocking to rayan. hahah i found it too much of a coincidence too actually!

today was our company off and i met jielong(da ge aka da jie) and fulong (er jie) at town to do some CNY shopping. wow, totally extravagant! haha but i didn't get anything la. we had a nice lunch at sushi tei. (the last time i visited that restaurant was with my angel, pamela! wonder how she's doing now~ should meet her one day).

Then, we went to da jie's cousin's shop which was located in far east plaza and guess wat! It was the shop that i visited like 3 years ago to purchase my vans shoes. haha! wat a coincidence rite?! well, hope to get discounts in future!

anyway~ tommorrow will be an exciting day! yeah~

evelyn

alright, I shall dedicate this post to our dearest evelyn. So, today was a day out with this girl who is leaving for Australia to further her studies on 7th Feb and she's none other than evelyN!

well, so we started the day by watching the Illusionist at marina GV. It was boring initially but the ending was superb! There was definitely a great twist and it makes u feel how ingenious the illusionist is~ That's the power of love~ and i love the medieval setting as it was filmed in Vienna and I will definitely visit that country during my course of study!

Then we met KS and had a filling dinner at Imperial Treasure~ yeah! my favourate eatery. so i ordered my usual suan la mian and long bao and this banana fritters. only those with sweet tooth can appreciate this. I like having that chewy feeling.

After which, I suddenly had this idea of sitting in a posh hotel, enjoy the ambience while the 3 of us chill out~ so i thot of Swissotel! so we visited the swiss cafe. due to the skyrocketing prices, we only had desserts. oOPz, i had this tobleron cheesecake and evelyn had this carrot cake while KS ordered a cocktail. alright! my cheesecake was totally authentic, with really creamy cheese and choc. so i had to really slowly taste it. Well, I like the cafe cos it's really classic; the service, the furnishing, the ambience--- totally 5 Stars.

so this outing was totally awesome! A getaway from the usual places we go to! swissotel rox!

yeah and evelyn! u must remember to take care of urself in Australia. I'll miss you when u get there... and yeah, dun worry, i'll be at the airport on 7th feb to send u off! hope u like the present~ i actually love it after making it. haha!

Rendezvous with KS

Yeah! It's a super duper fun day! met up with ks, yuexin and jiayiN! yeah 04S72~! yuexin and jiayin haven't met KS for a really long time and today we really caught up a lot!


I met weijie together with wenxiang on our way to suntec! so qiao lor!!! he's my sispec buddy!

first, we went to watch cha wu which is a totally complicated storY! but when we tried piecing the pieces together, it actually makes sense and appears to be quite a brilliant plot. but i just feel that they shouldn't make it soo complicated~ we got everything right after discussing it during our dinner at pizza hut! i like the supreme bbq chicken pizza~ yeah!

then we went on to have a wonderful dessert time at OLiO! i love that place! so cosy and has a good ambience. we sat at this table with a giant chair which was shared by ks and jy~ ahah! and we really chatted alot! about the old school days. the most hilarious part was the scandal between ks and huang jie. haha hope she doesn't see this! cos we remembered the funny times they had during their PW and we claimed that she had an infatuation for him theM! corny us~ we even asked him to choose 1 out of the 3~ haha! and ks always promotes democracy during his PW meetings by staging votings and this nv fails to make me laf! cos huang jie may have misunderstood his intentions of standing up for her! hahah! tsk tsk, this is mean huH! but totally funny la~ oh well, then we also chatted about our form teacher; and the many ppl in our class! well, gossips la~ and yeah it was really fun!


jiayin and ks! qing lu zhuang! we saw a woman with the same kinda shirt as ks! ahaha! yeah we chatted at there for like 2h! and at pizza was like another 2h too! best!

well, then we went to esplanade and the night view is stil as beautiful! anyway, all 3 of them wore pink today! haha~ and we made a pact to watch ghost tunnel together~ haha!

God vs Science

Recently, I've came across this article in time magazine, God vs Science. It's about a conversation between 2 scientists with opposing views. One's called Collins and the other, Dawkins; with the former being a ardent follower of god yet still has a good grasp of science and the latter who only belives in using theory to explain the various inexplicable phenomenons.

well, there were a lot of interesting arguments; like saying that the world was so beautifully designed and that has to come from a designer-god. but dawkins rebutted by saying that if that is so, god need not wait for billions of years for evolution to take place.

Then, comes the gravitational constant that collins felt was created by god, to allow us to live. without the correct constant, earth will be like any other planets in the universe which can't sustain lifeforms. However, dawkins said there's a unified theory that shows that these constants are locked in as the circumference and diameter of a circle and doesn't just come at a snap of a finger. furthermore, he made use of probability that since there're multiverse, there may be some other planets with the same fine tuning as earth.

The most captivating argument was that since darwin theory states that the fittest will survive, then why do altruism, courage exists which are the attributes of god. (cos ironically, such values will cost one to sacrifice) and dawkins made use of the fact that now we do not live in extended families like the past, thus it doesn't cross our mind that the reason for doing good is based on the fact that they live in small groups now.

haha, interesting huh. i think i will read the article again, cos it's quite chim!

1 year anniversarY!

yeah! today's 060107, exactly 1 year after my enlistment date 060106! so 10 more hopeful months to go~ well well, met up my BMT friends for a mini celebration. We had JApanese buffet at Hanabi restaurant! It was really great!


that's ding hao, bing cheng and kiwi!

99 kinds of different food and i think we almost tried all! now i'm having a bulging stomach la! i need to exercise! I like the sashimi over there cos it's soooo fresh! and the teppanyaki stuff~ together with the different side dishes~ haha we spent a whopping $228 there, so each person has to pay $38. yUPz, it's really value for money la. and dumb dumb kiwi keep saying wo hao jie shao while commending that the food is really good! how funny can he get! haha! It's really authentic jap food and some were quite exotic actuallY! like the pink sushi which they call pink panther or sakura in jap~ The ambience is quite nice too it has really been a long time since i last met eugene and ding hao! kept asking wat they're doing~ and bing cheng is currently studying medicine at NUS, hope he gives me discount in future~

me and bing chenG~ he's in medical sch now~ haha! he toks more now, not as quiet as in bmt. perhaps army really dulls one. haha my head looks very small hor~ cos i leaned back! haha~

alright, in the end i ordered a little too much food~ and kiwi was like yum yum~ hahah! but it was a really lovely buffet. but i still wanna have kushimbo in future again~ yeah! then, we went to marina sq and kiwi desperately wanted to catch a movie but there weren't enuf seats, so in the end we settled for jap ice cream at azabu soba! OIISHI frosty ice cream! haha.. i like the green tea 1 actually~ so today was like a jap day! and that reminds me of the japan trip that we have intended this coming december! we shall have a lovely ORD retreat!

blood diamond!

yes! I caught this epic movie of the year, BLOOD DIAMOND today with my fellow specs! It's really a great movie; reflects the many aspects of life and it's actually a good material for GP.

It's a movie that illustrates about how conflict diamonds are traded around the world. and how these diamonds are acquired; at the expense of others' lives. It's somewhat a documentary show and really depicts the conundrum some african countries are facing.

I vividly remembered one scene where the photographer was trying to take sensationalistic photos of refugees in the refugee camp; their frugal lives, their sorrow, their bleak future were totally captured by her. and while she was trying to capture a scene of happiness (family reunion), the father got to know that his son was abducted by the terrorists, and the happiness was immediately replaced by sorrow. and she could not hit the shutter for that scene. I guess that's the predicament that journalists usually face, they need to overcome their own emotions in a bid to draft a good report.

The show also tells us about the problem that such 3rd world countries, like war-torn africa are facing. We have heard countless reports on the entrenched poverty that africa faces and the numerous aids that first world countries have been trying to provide. despite such concerted efforts, africa still remains as a 3rd world country full of corruptions and internal strifes. I strongly believe that africa will only be able to step out of this adversity only if she and her people work as one; only if some1 were to step out to lead the rest for the greater good of their nation. basically, the 'opposition' (terrorists) groups have been instilling fear in their own kind over the years and together with a corrupted (weak) government, it has created a vicious cycle!

It also tells us how africans were exploited to work for their masters; or rather for us since we were the ultimate consumers of what they have to produce. There was this article about afrian labour; whether cheap labour=free labour in that country~ i guess that is something for us to ponder upon and take a step back to reflect on ourselves as first world countries.

I find great similarities in this show to hotel ruwanda. both address the problems about africa and both actually raise the awareness of the world about what is actually happening in africa. both creates a heavy feeling in their viewers and i believe this can make us realise how fortunate we actually are. I guess humans can be myopic at times, and may not really know what 3rd world countries are actually like, and thru these 2 movies, it is really an eyeopener. perhaps the UN can play a pivotal role in restalling law and order, however the episode on hotel ruwanda has proved otherwise. well, it guess it is all really up to the country herself to salvage the situation.

well finally, I would rate this movie 5 stars! and justin felt that it was really good too! Lets pray hard for these africans, hope that they will step out of this conundrum one day.

liyU~

so today i met LIYU together with weidi and samuel! haha~ she just came back from the states and it has been some time since we last met~ well well, yeah did some shopping with her and weidi at sim lim cos tardy samuel is late again!

yeah so it's 3 S75 and 1 S72 haha! it's really ironic for me to know so many 75ers. most through liyu, but some through other classmates! haha. and weidi is still quite thin! hey, you need to eat more! and liyu keeps complaining that she has put on a lot of weight, but it's ok la.. not much actually. just hit the gym! haha, we were crapping happily while shopping at sim lim and weidi was saying that her pair of guess jeans was for models cos that size couldn't fit the ppl there~ haha!

and liyu shared her experience with us, sounds fun! then we met samuel at billy bombers for lunch! actually, only me and weidi ordered cos both of them had already eaten! oh and i still like their potato salad! haha and weidi ordered all star burger. thousands of calories man! we chatted and chatted and yeah, it was really fun la cos we didn't meet liyu for so lonG~! so many things to talk about! even when they talk about their classmates i dun find that irrelevant cos i noe most of them! hahah! yeah it was a nice outing la.. but i'm quite tired now cos i've been going out early these few days and reach home late. well, tml will be playing mahjong at yx house, good that her house is just next to mine! haha~
